Copying a paragraph out of a PDF almost never gives you clean text. Instead you get a line break after every visual line, stray double spaces, and sometimes hyphens splitting words in half. Fixing it by hand is tedious, but the pattern is always the same.
Step 1: Join the broken lines
PDFs store text line by line, so each visual line ends with a hard break. Paste your text into our Line Break & Whitespace Remover and choose 'Remove line breaks'. The paragraph becomes one continuous block again.
Step 2: Collapse the extra spaces
Justified PDF text often uses multiple spaces to stretch a line. Switch to 'Trim extra spaces' to collapse every run of spaces into one while keeping your paragraph breaks intact.
Step 3: Fix split words and repeated lines
- Use Find and Replace to remove hyphen-space sequences left by word splitting.
- Run headers and footers through the Duplicate Line Remover if the same page header repeated on every page.
- Check the final length with the Word Counter before pasting into your document.
